The terrible story of an exorcism: Anneliese Michel

The story of Anneliese Michel, has been filmed several times, one of them with the name of "The Exorcism of Emily Rose". This case has been one of the most famous exorcism in history and caused a stir at the time. Here we bring you the details of this macabre story of demonic possession or simply medical malpractice ... whatever the case, the outcome was fatal.

Since its birth on September 21, 1952, Anneliese Michel enjoyed a normal life, educated religiously since I was very small.

In mid-1968, 16-year-old Anneliese began to suffer terrible shock and adopts impossible positions, without being able to control it. Josef and Anna, their parents, leading to the Psychiatric Clinic Wurzburg. The evidence is conclusive: Anneliese has epilepsy. Begins an income and long-term treatment that does nothing to improve their status. Anneliese actually worse: it sinks into a deep depression and drugs, including several psychotropics, they do not contribute to its cure. Anneliese begins to have demonic visions during their continuous prayers

during 1970 the world undergoes changes and convulsions, but Anneliese are much more traumatic. Anneliese began to say that is possessed. Visions do not refer but worsen. After his third crisis and income is prescribed her first anticonvulsant.

This medication does not affect your attacks, but imposes a side effect: the brain loses sodium, which promotes abstinence food.

Three years of suffering and no better convince Anneliese conventional medicines that do not will have any effect. Young doctors explained that several demons force her to convulse and to perform heinous acts. Anneliese wants spiritual help, and it is she who asks an exorcism. The ritual is denied, and instead are prescribed Periciacina, which raises the seizure threshold in the nervous system.

Voices began to pursue Anneliese saying that he would "burn in hell". She mentioned her "demons" to the doctors only once, explaining that they had begun to give orders. The doctors seemed unable to help, and Anneliese lost hope that medicine could cure her.

In the summer of 1973 her parents Anna and Josef visit several pastors for help. In addition to negative and advice to trust your daughter to doctors, Anneliese parents are informed of the requirements that the Church asks to perform an exorcism.

For the bishop recognizes a Infestatio the person must have an aversion to religious objects, show 'sansonismo' or excessive force and suffer 'xenoglossy', the ability to speak in unknown languages. Anneliese is important to note that it is informed of these points, the symptoms that are missing so it can be exorcised.

In 1974, after supervising Anneliese for some time, Pastor Ernst Alt requested permission from the Bishop of Wurzburg to perform an exorcism. The request was denied and soon followed the recommendation that Anneliese should live a religious life in order to find peace.

Anneliese attacks refer not worsen.

Anneliese's behavior becomes erratic and dangerous are: at home Klingenberg, Anneliese very cruel insults (revealing their secrets and attacking their weaknesses) his entire family, plus beat them and bite them.

He refused to eat any food, because it claimed that demons would not allow it. Anneliese slept on the stone floor, ate spiders, flies, coal and drank their urine. Anneliese screaming throughout the house for hours until spitting blood. Also breaking crucifixes, destroying paintings of Jesus and threw rosaries against the walls. Anneliese then began self-mutilation, hitting against the walls and furniture. Tearing her clothes and urinating on the floor and was commonplace.

After an accurate verification of possession, which now included all the necessary requirements, in September 1975 the Bishop of Wurzburg, Josef Stang, assigned Father Arnold Renz and Pastor Ernst Alt order to perform the exorcism of Anneliese Michel.

The basis for this ritual is in the Rituale Romanum, which remains, at this time, a valid Canon Law from the seventeenth century. They posed a terrible task, since Anneliese said he was not possessed by a demon.

In his words in his being nested Lucifer, Judas Iscariot, Nero, Cain, Hitler, and Fleischmann, a disgraced French priest of the sixteenth century, along with some other damned souls.

From September 75 to July 76 one or two exorcism sessions were held each week. Some young attacks were of such violence could not be reduced or three men, or even chained.

Anneliese was able to jump almost a meter knee, and sent his father and priest at the other end of the room in one fell swoop. During this time, Anneliese embraced some normalcy to when he could return to school and perform final exams at the Academy of Pedagogy Warzburg.

The attacks got worse. Anneliese lost consciousness and remained rigid more frequently. The ritual lasted for months, with the presence of relatives and witnesses. Anneliese refused to eat during that period.

His knees were broken during the 600 genuflections she performed in the daily sessions of exorcism. Several photos reflect their deterioration: the nose broken by hitting his face against the wall, broken teeth, bald hair, dozens of open wounds and cuts, inflamed eyes, necrosis, malnutrition ... Not to mention internal injuries. About 40 tapes were recorded during the process.

Anneliese said he had several visions, and gave a date as "Liberation Day" on July 1.

On June 30, 1976 Anneliese suffered pneumonia. It is gaunt, with high fever. Exhausted and unable to perform genuflections herself, her parents hold to crouch. Anneliese asks absolution to the priests.

Anna records everything and hears her daughter say "Mom, I'm so scared." Anneliese said that at midnight the demons would leave, and it is at that moment when, with the serene face, he plunges into a deep sleep.

Anneliese Michel died on July 1. At noon Pastor Ernst Alt informed the authorities in Aschaffenburg. The prosecutor began investigating immediately.

The parents of the girl and the two exorcists were accused of negligent homicide. In the trial that began on March 30, 1978. The Klingenberg case was decided based on two questions: What caused the death of Anneliese and who was responsible?

According to forensic evidence Anneliese died from malnutrition. Specialists said that if the defendants had fed the girl to force a week before his death, Anneliese's life would have been saved. A sister of the girl testified in court that his sister did not want admitted to a mental hospital, where he would be sedated and forced to eat.

The exorcists tried to prove the presence of demons, putting the tapes in which strange dialogues like two demons arguing about which of the two should first leave the body of the girl was heard. One of them called himself Hitler, and spoke with a foreign accent Hitler was born in Austria.

Recordings also show two distinct but simultaneous voices, issued both by Anneliese, without forgetting their language skills in theory, unknown.

However, it was accessible to anyone who wanted to pretend, despite being a perfect imitation information. This ties in with the theory of Induction Doctrinal by psychiatrists. According to them the priests gave the girl the contents of her psychotic behavior, and produced hint that Anneliese accepted that his behavior was a form of demonic possession.

Graduates added that the unstable sexual development of young along with his diagnosis of frontal lobe disorder aggravated his psychosis. Parents and exorcists were found guilty of negligent homicide and denial of relief. The sentence was 6 months in prison with parole.

A commission of the German Conference concluded after Anneliese Michel was not possessed. But believers did not stop support in their struggles, and it was because many believed that the body of the girl would not find peace or death.

A Carmelite nun told Bavarian Josef and Anna who had a vision of the body of Anneliese, who remained uncorrupted. Eleven and a half years after her burial, the body of Anneliese was exhumed and subjected to another autopsy.

Despite rumors to the contrary and existence of photos of the second autopsy, never revealed, the body showed the normal signs of corruption.

There is a photo of the coffin in which some see a claw embracing the coffin. Today, his tomb remains a place of pilgrimage for those who believe that Anneliese was a brave fighter against demonic forces. There is also another photo of an alleged apparition of the Virgin in the skies above the cemetery where rests Anneliese.
